38th Fuerteventura World Cup
The now legendary Fuerteventura World Cup will take place for the 38th time from July 17th to August 1st. Extremely reliable winds, a crystal-clear turquoise sea, white sandy beaches, and a tidal lagoon make Sotavento a windsurfing paradise for professionals and vacationers alike. The event’s sponsors, “Zel Fuerteventura” and “Paradisus Fuerteventura,” are located right on site, and the René Egli Center is situated in the hotels’ picturesque palm garden on the edge of the lagoon.
It was René Egli—a visionary and pioneer—who launched the World Cup on Fuerteventura in 1986 and organised it in collaboration with the Pájara municipal government. And even after all these years, it is still the René Egli team, Meliã Hotels, the Pájara municipal government, and the Fuerteventura island government that make this World Cup possible through their tireless efforts and immense financial support. The event is one of only two PWA Grand Slams in 2026.
In 2026, the tradition will continue. The freestylers—both men and women—will compete from July 17th-21st, while Slalom X will take place from July 22nd-26th. World championship titles will be awarded in freestyle (women) and Slalom X (men and women).
After July 26, the event will switch to a different sport. The GWA wingfoilers will take over and this year they will be competing in two disciplines: FreeFly-Slalom and Surf-Freestyle.
All disciplines in all sports will be organized for men and women – enjoy the epic action at the Sotavento World Cup Beach or via Live-Stream!
Venue: Playa Barca Sotavento (René Egli Windsurf, Wingfoil & Kitesurf Center), Fuerteventura.
Date: 17 July - 1 August 2026
